Agua Pura para el Mundo (APPM) team traveled from Honduras to Tipitapa Nicaragua to deliver a hands-on training on Community Promotion in WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene). This regional workshop was developed by APPM in association with CAWST and organized in collaboration with the SMART Center in Nicaragua, who provided local logistical support and hosted the event.

The workshop brought together community promoters, program managers, and technical staff from NGOs like World Vision, El Porvenir and Good Neighbors International all implementing WASH projects in Nicaragua. With years of field experience and a participatory approach, the APPM team facilitated a dynamic and practical learning space focused on enhancing the way WASH practices are promoted at the community level.
Collective energy for change
Led by APPM facilitators, the opening session set the tone for collaboration, creativity, and co-learning. Through group activities, participants explored new ways to connect with communities and tailor messages for behavior change in hygiene and safe water use.

Celebrating new WASH champions
At the closing, APPM and the SMART Center recognized the dedication of each participant. The certificate ceremony symbolized more than training completion—it represented the participants’ readiness to become local WASH champions in their own communities. This training reflects APPM’s ongoing commitment to strengthening local capacity in WASH across Central America. By sharing tools and approaches co-developed with CAWST, APPM is helping ensure that behavior change promotion is not only technically sound, but also rooted in community context, empowerment, and sustainability.
